  1. The Karnataka Cabinet has cleared the new Karnataka Youth Policy. It promises interventions in education, training, employment, health and sports programs for youngsters, besides a dedicated budgetary outlay.
  2. A private member’s bill seeking the enactment of a uniform civil code in India was introduced in the Rajya Sabha by BJP MP Kirodi Lal Meena.
  3. Indian and Chinese troops clashed along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on 9 December.
  4. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated Mopa International Airport in Goa, which has been named after former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

  9. Nihar Malaviya, an Indian-origin publishing executive, has been named Interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of New York-based international publishing group Penguin Random House after Markus Dohle, current CEO, announced his resignation.
